| By condensing the sonic explorations of Meddle to actual songs and adding a lush, immaculate production to their trippiest instrumental sections, Pink Floyd inadvertently designed their commercial breakthrough with Dark Side of the Moon. The primary revelation of Dark Side of the Moon is what a little focus does for the band. Roger Waters wrote a series of songs about mundane, everyday details which aren't that impressive by themselves, but when given the sonic backdrop of Floyd's slow, atmospheric soundscapes and carefully placed sound effects, they achieve an emotional resonance. But what gives the album true power is the subtly textured music, which evolves from ponderous, neo-psychedelic art rock to jazz fusion and blues-rock before turning back to psychedelia. It's dense with detail, but leisurely paced, creating its own dark, haunting world. | ピンク・フロイド『狂気』(The Dark Side Of The Moon) 発売50周年 クリスタル・クリア・ヴァイナル・コレクターズ・エディション ピンク・フロイドが『狂気』(The Dark Side Of The Moon)の50周年を記念したコレクターズ・エディションLPをリリースする。今回のニュー・エディションは、LP2枚組、180g重量盤、クリスタル・クリア・ヴァイナルの限定盤。 2LPはそれぞれ、片面はオーディオ面、もう片面には美しい絵柄がUVプリントされている特殊仕様で、ピンク・フロイドがこの先駆的なUVプリント・プロセスをヴァイナルに使用するのは今回が初めて。画像はハイエンドのUVプリンターで印刷され、画像が印刷されたオーディオのない面のパーマネント・インクを定着させるためにUVライトを使用している。このニュー・エディションLPのマスターは2023年リマスターを使用、スリップケース入りのゲートフォールド・スリーヴに収められ、特典ポスターが付属する。 ピンク・フロイドの『狂気』は約50年前の1973年にリリース、全世界で5000万枚以上売り上げ、最も象徴的で影響力のあるアルバムのひとつとなった。プリズム・スペクトルが描かれた有名なスリーブは、ヒプノシスのストーム・トーガソンがデザインし、ジョージ・ハーディが描いた。 Original Cover Design & Photography by HIPGNOSIS LP Mastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman |
